THE TRAVELLING GOURMET Fermanagh’s Finest Join Forces for the Ultimate Food Lovers Getaway Lough Erne Resort and the Belle Isle School of Cookery have joined together this autumn to create a unique 2-day Gourmet experience, ‘Travelling Gourmet’. Indulge in the ‘Tastes of Lough Erne’ delivered by acclaimed Chef, Noel McMeel and enjoy an inspiring day with Liz Moore at the well-known Belle Isle School of Cookery for the ultimate gourmet getaway. This exciting package is available 24th-26th October 2010 and gourmet enthusiasts should book early to avoid disappointment; The Travelling Gourmet Package will include 2 nights luxury accommodation with full Irish breakfast at the 5 Star Lough Erne Resort and an exclusive dinner menu on the first night compiled by acclaimed chef Noel McMeel in Lough Erne’s Catalina Restaurant, overlooking Castle Hume Lough.The next morning travel (transfer included) to Belle Isle School of Cookery where you will experience a one day hands-on cookery course with Liz Moore. The course will include approximately eight “hands on” recipes that will be firstly demonstrated by Liz. The recipes can mostly be prepared in advance and are based on entertaining. They will be fun and relatively easy to do with a few challenges thrown in. Students will learn plenty of new techniques as well as knowledge of new ingredients. Examples of the delicious recipes to be covered may be Onion & Guinness yeast bread, warm salad of wood pigeon with an orange vinaigrette, pan fried brill with thyme cream sauce and autumn nut tart with butterscotch sauce. As members of Good Food Ireland both Lough Erne and Belle Isle are committed to prioritising the core indigenous ingredients of Irish cuisine and promoting local and artisan food producers.
Following the day’s cooking you will return to the Lough Erne Resort for a relaxing evening with the chance to unwind in the tranquil environment, enjoying the Collop Walk or immersing yourself in the waters of the Thermal Suite at the Thai Spa. Other dining experiences available at Lough Erne include the Blaney Bar’s grazing menu, the Loughside Bar and Grill for casual dining and the Halfway House for light bites when strolling round the Collop. Day 1 Check into your Luxury Room at Lough Erne Golf Resort
Day 2 7.00-9.00 Breakfast in The Catalina Restaurant 9.15 Depart Lough Erne Resort via Luxury Coach Transfer 10am-12.20pm Course begins with a brief talk from the tutor on the content of the day’s course of about 8 recipes followed by the first recipe of the day, usually bread. Other recipes may include starters, main courses or desserts. 12.20-1pm Coffee break and light snack made by the students that morning 1-2.45pm Preparations towards lunch which may include vegetable, meat and fish dishes. 3pm Late lunch and complimentary glass of wine 4pm Depart Belle Isle to Lough Erne Golf Resort for second overnight
The rest of the evening is free to relax and unwind in the tranquil environment of Lough Erne Golf Resort. Enjoy The Collop Walk, located within the grounds of the Resort, with stunning views over Lower Lough Erne and Castle Hume Lough or immerse yourself in the waters of The Infinity Suite at The Thai Spa.
